Garvey Educational Room

Located inside the main Prairie Museum building, the Garvey Educational room and Kuska Gallery are all available year-round for business meetings, family reunions, club meetings, receptions and much more. A wi-fi hotspot, our facilities are also equipped with a 55" 3D smart TV and a 60" smart TV. Both have wireless connectivity and Apple TV to allow for the use of all laptops and computers, tablets, I-pads and other electronic devices. Also availalbe for use is a portable public announcement system, podium, projector and screen.

Kuska Gallery

The Kuska Gallery is equipped with audio and visual needs, wi-fi accessible and comfortably seats about 100, but can accomodate a standing crowd of more than 120. Since the room is open to tourists, it cannot be closed off during business hours. Host your evening event amongst treausred collections of the Prairie Museum`s Kuska Galleries. Decorating is limited.

Lone Star Church

Simple, Charming and Romantic

Built in 1915, our charming white country church is the perfect setting for a small, intimate wedding or other church service. It features original stained glass windows, a time-period pump organ, and original pews seating up to 100 guests and a working church bell.

Because the church does not have air condtioning or heat, it is only availble to rent from April 1 to October 31. It does have electricity, two celing fans and is handicapped accessible.

Guests will enjoy close parking and free admission to tour the Prairie Museum on the day of your event.

Cooper Barn 

Cooper Barn: The Largest Barn in Kansas, measuring 66 feet wide, 114 feet long and 48 feet tall, the Cooper Barn includes a kitchenette, chair lift and rest rooms on-site. Becuase it does not have heating or air condtitioning, the barn is only available to rent from April 1 to October 31. Named an 8th Wonder of Kansas Architecture, the Cooper Barn`s immense size and scale impress all and is a show-stopping event venue.

This package is perfect for a wedding ceremony or early evening reception. With it, you are guaranteed 3 business days use of the Cooper Barn. Day 1 is for setting up and decorating during business hours, plus a complimentary hour from 5-6 p.m. for ceremony rehearsal. We recommend starting rehearsal by 4:30 p.m. Day 2 is for the event and minimal cleaning duties; you`ll chose 7 consecutive hours. Day 3 is for final tear down and clean up during business hours.

Gold Package (12 Hour Event)

This package is perfect for a big celebration in the Cooper Barn. Day 1 is for setting up and decorating during business hours, plus a complimentary hour from 5-6 for ceremony rehearsal. We recommend starting rehearsal by 4:30 p.m. Day 2 is for the event and minimal cleaning duties; you`ll chose 12 consecutive hours. Day 3 is for final tear down and clean up during business hours.

MoserChurch

Handicapped accessible and big enough to seat approximately 100 guests, the LONE STAR CHURCH is the perfect venue for a small, intimate wedding ceremony or other church service. This 1915 charming, white country church has electricity and large ceiling fans but there is no heating or air conditioning.  The Lone Star Church is available for rent April 1 through October 31.

The Prairie Museum is pleased to offer free admission to all guests who attend events in the Lone Star Church.

Lone Star Church

A $50 nonrefundable deposit is required to safely secure a booking date and will go towards the final balance. The following listing is a guideline to help estimate the cost to rent the Lone Star Church at the Prairie Museum of Art & History.

  • Alcohol is not permitted in the Lone Star Church 
  • Clean-up and set-up must be done within the designated booking time unless other arrangements are made; oftentimes, time is available during the week prior to the event and the days following an event for set-up and clean-up, but cannot be guaranteed
  • Guests may enjoy complimentary museum admission to tour the exhibits
  • Necessary damage fees, clean-up labor and/or additional hours needed are billed at $100 per hour
  • Wedding photos may be taken on museum premises during business hours at no extra cost

During Business Hours Wedding Ceremonies and Other Events          $250


Wedding ceremonies and other event occassions that take place during business hours can be held in the church for $250. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends 1 to 5 p.m.

    • Couples who book their wedding ceremony during business hours in the church receive one complimentary "during business hours" hour for rehearsal

After-Hours Wedding Ceremonies and Other Events          $350


Wedding ceremonies and other event occassions that take place after business hours can be held in the church for $350. This package allows for no more than two consecutive "after-hours" hours. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends 1 to 5 p.m.

    • Couples who book their wedding ceremony after business hours in the church receive one complimentary "after hours" hour for rehearsal

MoserWedding

The largest barn in Kansas and named an 8th Wonder of Kansas Architecture in 2008, the COOPER BARN measures 66 feet wide by 114 feet long and 48 feet high. The loft can accommodate up to 700 people and is perfect for wedding receptions and ceremonies, corporate events and meetings, educational programs and other large-scale occassions.

After a fundraising campaign, the Prairie Museum of Art & History is proud to announce that the barn now features a chair lift for handicap accessibility, a kitchenette for catering needs, and on-site restrooms. 

Additionally, since the barn does not feature air conditioning or heating, it is only available for rent from April 1 through October 31. The barn does include lights and electricity, a beautiful and rustic atmosphere and space for dancing. A permanent stage is big enough to host an altar, a live band or a disc jockey. Additionally, the Prairie Museum of Art & History is pleased to offer free admission to all guests who attend events in the Cooper Barn.

Specializing in bus tour groups, the Prairie Museum of Art & History encourages and sincerely welcomes gatherings of all sizes, ages and from all organizations to tour the exhibits.

The group rate for adults is $6 per person. Admission for tour group drivers and leaders is complimentary. The  visit can suit any tour schedule; visitors can see the entire museum in as little as one hour or can make the tour last as long as an entire day. Restrooms and water fountains are easily accessible and are located near the front entrance. Complimentary videos are oftentimes available for viewing in the Garvey Education Room.

The Prairie Museum can be explained as "two museums in one." Upon arrival, guests can shop for Kansas souvenirs and unique gifts in the Museum Mart, which is located in the main lobby, and then head off through the indoor exhibits. Included in the indoor exhibits is the world-class Kuska Collection, High Plains Journey Stories, a Kansas Kids Corner and other temporary exhibits that frequently change. There is also a library for those interested in learning about local history. With plenty of things to see and places to sit, the indoor exhibits are air conditioned and perfect for guests who prefer to stay indoors.

The outdoor exhibits reflect the lives of pioneers that settled in Western Kansas in the 1870s. The Prairie Living Site includes six time-period buildings that showcase artifacts and displays as well as a 10-acre Western Prairie Educational Site, a perennial herb garden, a small playground and during the spring and summer, there is oftentimes 4-H livestock living at the Vacin Barn.
