Δ   The Museum maintains a non-lending collection of books on the history of the Great Plains, as well as reference books on antiques and the Kuska Collection. The collections can be accessed by visitors and staff.

Thomas County Archives
Δ   The Thomas County Historical Society is the county repository and maintains local historical archives and records. County newspapers and federal and state census for Thomas County are on microfilm. An extensive photograph and negative collection is cataloged according to subject. The archives contains unpublished histories of communities, families and businesses in Thomas County and publications about the area. The Society can order census microfilm to be read at the museum.

Genealogy Sources
Δ   The library contains genealogical materials for use by researchers and scholars. Research requests are handled by the staff and volunteers. Due to a large increase in requests, we feel that we need to charge. Our research fee is $10.00 per hour with a minimum of one hour. Copies are $.15 for paper documents and $.25 for the microfilm reader/printer.

To assist researchers, the Thomas County censuses are surname indexed. Copies of obituaries published in the Thomas County newspapers and an index to cemeteries in the County are in an alphabetical file. Marriage records and birth notices are also available in a surname index.

We welcome photos from your collection. Simply email us a jpeg. Scans with a resolution of 200-300 dpi are preferred. We can also take CD's of photos.
